Get to Know Us

Founded in 1867, Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church has been a cornerstone of faith and community in Auburn, Alabama. From its humble beginnings in a small house at "Old Dick's Place" to its current location, the church has withstood trials, including multiple fires, while continuing to grow in ministry.

Throughout its 157-year history, Mount Sinai has expanded its facilities, established impactful ministries, and remained committed to spiritual growth and service. Under the leadership of Rev. Veryl Dion Gilbert, the church continues to flourish, recently launching a food pantry, Children’s Church, and celebrating its mortgage pay-off in 2023. Today, with over 200 active members, Mount Sinai stands as a beacon of faith, dedicated to worshiping God and serving mankind

Rev. V. Dion Gilbert Sr. is a passionate leader dedicated to God’s word and community empowerment. Since 2020, he has served as Pastor of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Auburn, Alabama, where he fosters spiritual growth through inspiring sermons, engaging Bible studies, and outreach initiatives. A psychology graduate of Gulf Coast State College, he accepted his call to preach at 18 and began pastoring at 24. With a heart for service and social justice, Pastor Gilbert continues to guide others with wisdom, faith, and his signature phrase:
 “This is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes!”
